FIWARE4Cities edition 3 is all about showcasing how FIWARE helps cities to lift their Smart City strategies off the ground – but this time with more than 250 city references from 22 countries and 100 deep-dives where cities explain their concrete and running solutions and their journeys how they became smart(er).
This new edition presents an unprecedented insight of cities into how they are using FIWARE and the benefits they are able to generate when making their cities smart, but also sustainable and resilient. From the UK to Japan, from Belgium to India, from Argentina to the US, FIWARE is up and running in more than 250 cities worldwide.
This book is not just another book, though. It is a special combination of hands-on information and best-practices, real and running implementations, insights by thought leaders and specific trend statements, and last but not least a unique city index that allows you in an interactive mode to easily find the city you are interested in.
This book is also special as it lays out open source city solutions that can be shared. Selected cities have started giving open access to their specific Smart City solutions allowing other cities to reuse already existing solutions and avoid inventing the wheel another time (e.g. by sharing publicly their projects on Github).
By following and using FIWARE’s open common standards and technologies, the showcased cities demonstrate how to deliver state-of-the-art smart, digital, sustainable and effective strategies and public services.
With exciting forewords and future looking statements from Renato De Castro (Smart city expert and author of “City SmartUp”) as well as voices from world-class thought-leaders from East Asia (Kyong-yul Lee, Secretary-General, WeGO), USA (Jason Whittet, Digital Innovation Lead Smart Cities, Amazon Web Services), LATAM (Jaime Ruiz Huescar, Co-Founder, CITIES FORUM), Europe (Bettina Tratz-Ryan, Research Vice-President, Gartner) and UK (Luke Antoniou, Senior Editor, SmartCitiesWorld), this Smart Cities book is becoming a true guide to the world of cities and organizations working in the Smart Cities, Smart Territories, eGov, Mobility, Tourism, Energy, Water and Sustainability market with vivid examples to support dynamic city’s transformations and well as a helping hand in the technology pick and implementation strategy.
