<p>Dear colleagues,</p>
<p>In this month's Newsletter we focus on work to build a comprehensive international knowledge base of smart community best practices. <a href="https://opencommons.org/Main_Page">OpenCommons</a> is using a <a href="https://www.semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Semantic_MediaWiki"> Semantic Mediawiki</a> to create a structured database of information about smart community projects. A Semantic MediaWiki is a powerful tool for building and managing a knowledge base from large amounts of unstructured data. Starting with the projects compiled by the <a href="https://www.nist.gov/"> National Institute of Standards and Technology] (NIST) <a href="https://www.nist.gov/ctl/smart-connected-systems-division/iot-devices-and-infrastructure-group/smart-americaglobal-0"> Global City Teams Challenge</a> (GCTC) OpenCommons is building custom forms and templates for entering data, making it easier for project contributors to add information and ensuring that data is consistent and standardised. We encourage you to join the effort by <a href="https://opencommons.org/Special:RequestAccount"> requesting an account</a> and share projects you believe offer lessons to others about deploying technology in their community.</p>
