In this edition we focus on how open source software and open data improve smart city services and economics. We start with a webinar on 17 March 2022 titled 'Neighborhood Data for Social Change Platform' where Elly Shoen will talk about the work underway at the USC Price Center for Social Innovation to provide a publicly available online resource for civic actors to learn about their communities, you can register for this event by clicking this link.

In this edition we focus on Wellbeing with projects addressing equity, engagement and health.

We then explore a wider basis of the wider impact of open source with a report from the United Nations (UN) 'Impact of Open Source on the European economy' and an example of how open source has been used to make cities more livable called 'How Open-Source Software Makes Cities More Livable'. We hope you will enjoy this material.

The news items introduce two recent open source developments and a report from the European Commission (EC) 'Impact of Open Source on the European economy' outlining the results of a study analysing the economic impact of Open Source Software and Hardware on the European economy. We hope you will find this material useful.
