Description

  • Connect homes to detect emergency events and alert residents via phone or app, and initiate contacting first responders
  • Demonstrate how to extend a connected safe home to everyone at a low-incremental cost
  • Focus on seniors, their care givers, and property managers

Standards, Replicability, Scalability, and Sustainability

  • Our project uses established Machine-to-Machine communications standards (MQTT) to provide real-time data to data consumers
  • Actuators and Dashboards can subscribe to data streams from any data producer
  • Most of the components of the sensing habitat are composed of open-source software and off-the-shelf hardware, allowing ready replicability
  • The data habitat is based on a MQTT transmission protocol, with consumers subscribing only to relevant feeds, promoting scalability
