National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T) are thrilled to announce the 2019 GCTC-Smart and Secure Cities and Communities Challenge (SC3) Expo. The Expo will take place at the Walter E Washington Convention Center on February 20-22, 2019. We are working with a number of federal agencies, local governments, industry and academic stakeholders to make this event the largest smart city and community event hosted by the US federal government with over 100 cities and communities around the world. The Expo is an opportunity for action clusters working with municipal governments to show off their accomplishments and to share the best practices and leverage each other’s investment.

Expo website: https://pages.nist.gov/GCTC/event/gctc-expo-2019/ (Registration is free, but RSVP required)

We are still building the agenda, and will provide an update as soon as we make progress. The Expo will include:

  • Keynotes from senior federal and local government leaders and industry/academic stakeholders.
  • Best practices presentations and exhibits from SuperClusters and 100+ teams composed of local governments and technology innovators.
  • Exhibits from technology providers working on smart city and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.
  • Approved action clusters will be offered an exhibit space and a speaking opportunity free of charge (pending availability). Each action cluster should include at least one municipal government partner to demonstrate the benefits of the smart city solutions.
