Ag & Rural SuperCluster (ARSC) to Host a Workshop

Smart technologies are helping ensure rural prosperity and will improve farming and ranching production, economic development, health outcomes, educational availability and aging in place. The Agriculture and Rural SuperCluster (ARSC), GCTC -Smart and Secure Cities and Communities Challenge, encourages collaboration on innovative ag tech projects and is developing a blueprint for other communities.

On September 6-7, 2018, ARSC will host a workshop at Purdue University where the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and the National Institute of Standards and Technology will serve as facilitators to begin sharing lessons from these projects.

At this workshop, participants will see a virtual “tour of the SuperCluster” activities, learn about funding opportunities, attend a showcase of smart agricultural and rural projects and actively participate in writing a blueprint document. Presentations from participants will provide glimpses into their projects, including challenges and noteworthy practices related to broadened internet access and IoT related to agriculture and rural health. Attendees will represent government agencies, universities, private businesses and rural broadband users. We anticipate presentations related to ongoing projects in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Indiana, Virginia, Oregon and California. The meeting will begin at 12pm on September 6 through 12pm on September 7, so plan your travel accordingly. Registration is free. Please register at HERE, so we can plan appropriately.
