Description

The Action cluster will aim to help collaborate with key stakeholders in the public health community to help create a Guide on best practices, case studies, and standards. The Guide will help guide key decision makers as they begin to formulate their policy positions on Blockchain and Public Health issues.

Challenges

Cities and communities are in different stages of blockchain adoption. One of the verticals that shows the most promise is public health.

Solutions

Major Requirements

The Action cluster will aim to help collaborate with key stakeholders in the public health community to help create a Guide on best practices, case studies, and standards. The Guide will help guide key decision makers as they begin to formulate their policy positions on Blockchain and Public Health issues.

Performance Targets

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Measurement Methods

Our goal with the Guide doesn’t necessarily aim to address KPIs but identify barriers to adoption while providing a pathway to replicability, scalability, and sustainability.

As mentioned above, the Guide won’t necessarily address KPIs. What it will do is examine certain public health areas where we believe that blockchain will have an impact. These include (but are not limited to):

  • Supply chain auditing for medical supplies and pharmaceuticals
  • Secure purchase/tracking system for controlled substances like opioid-based pain killers
  • Clinical Trial Collaboration
  • Health Plan Rebate Claims
  • Medical Records
  • Consent management
  • Micropayments

Standards, Replicability, Scalability, and Sustainability

The data captured from our Guide will provide direction to the level of blockchain adoption and help identify barriers to adoption.

Cybersecurity and Privacy

The Guide will have a section that focuses on the cyber element of blockchain. We will provide use cases that spotlight how the utilization of blockchain is helping diminish cyber risk.

Impacts

According to a new market research report "Blockchain Technology in Healthcare Market by Application (Supply Chain Management, Clinical Data Exchange & Interoperability, Claims Adjudication and Billing), End User (Pharmaceutical Companies, Healthcare Payers, Providers) - Global Forecast to 2023", published by MarketsandMarkets™, the market is expected to reach USD 829.0 million by 2023 from USD 53.9 million in 2018, at a CAGR of 72.8%. The growth will help expand technology jobs while saving millions of dollars in efficiencies.

Demonstration/Deployment

The Action cluster will aim to help collaborate with key stakeholders in the public health community to help create a Guide on best practices, case studies, and standards. The Guide will help guide key decision makers as they begin to formulate their policy positions on Blockchain and Public Health issues.
