	The Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC) program provides a collaborative platform for the development of smart cities and communities, led by National Institute of Standards and Technology, a bureau of U.S. Department of Commerce. Because many of today’s smart city/community development efforts are isolated and customized projects, NIST, in 2014, launched the Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC) to encourage collaboration and the development with industry leadership of voluntary, consensus standards.
